MIT Brass Rat Ring

Grad Ring
2024-2029.
The Standard Technology Ring ("Brass Rat") is a custom class ring given to MIT undergrads upon completion of their sophomore year. A committee of 12 students designs the ring throughout the year and the design is unveiled at Ring Premiere in February.
During this time we meet once a week with students in Cambridge to discuss the Bezel (top of ring), Seal Shank (left side), Class Shank right side), Skylines (right side) and the Hackers Map (underside of ring). In between meetings we use multiple Ipad's to share notes, sketches, ideas and files. Each class aims for their own unique style with specific details and events that are significant to their class. It's my job to make their sketches and concepts into accurate, atomically correct and visually understandable visual images.
When all sketches are fully approved the artwork is then created into vectors for CAD (3D printing). Lastly I use the final images and paint them on photoshop for marketing purposes. If time permits we create fun merchandise designs such as sticker art, merchandise concepts and short animation's for presentations.
